Jobs
As a doctor, I have been trained in the scientific method and work to approach problems in my life in a straight-forward, logical manner. Identifying the cause of a problem is the first step in reaching a solution. After that, the task at hand is to seek solutions that provide not only the quickest but most effective course of action to solve the problem.
This approach is different than a career politician’s, who use issues to make outlandish predictions and promises that sound wonderful. They do this not to solve problems, but to become elected. This country is reeling industrially at the hands of warring political parties that have beaten, pulled, stretched and nearly broken the industrial well-being of this country for their own gains.
Out of all the issues that face us as a nation this election cycle, the loss of jobs is the stinging issue that has affected us all. But loss of jobs is not the problem; it is the result.
We need a real world solution to this problem, not just a political gimmick like a “payroll tax holiday” such as Lee Fisher proposes or a “Blue Book” charade that Mr. Portman proposes to restore our national strength through small business. This country needs an industrial blood transfusion and it needs it now.
The recovery of jobs is not going to come with some magic pill or program like our Democratic opponents are offering all over again. It is more complex than that. No jobs program is going to succeed in Ohio at the hands of a United States Senator as my opponents would have you believe. They do not have that kind of power. The Senator from Ohio will have to provide leadership to help the State Government eliminate the two factors that helped drive jobs out of Ohio in the first place.
Jobs can never return to this country unless two things happen. Meaningful tax elimination on business and industry has to be made. I am not referring only to the typical Republican Bush Tax cuts for the rich, the investment tax credit and the capital gains tax reduction that are set to expire in January. I am talking about a complete elimination of any and all capital gains type taxes on business and private citizens by changing our overall tax structure to a consumption tax.
The second happening involves federal spending. We cannot cut taxes until we curb the ridiculous spending habits of the United States Government. As long as we give people like Mr. Portman and Mr. Fisher free rein to continue the Washington corruption, then we cannot begin to address jobs.
To summarize, my key principles for job creation are:
- The government cannot “create” private sector jobs unless we have business-friendly policies.
- We cannot bring jobs to Ohio until workers compensation and health care costs are addressed.
- America cannot solve our loss of industry with tariffs. Many other policies have to be eliminated before tariffs would be effective.
- Both of the two major parties are responsible for job loss in the past decade because of partisan agendas and not addressing the problems at hand logically.
- Confidence in American business is greatly diminished because of reckless spending. I am proposing a Constitutional Amendment to change these practices.
- We must eliminate taxes on individuals and businesses such as income taxes. Replace it with a consumption tax and begin taxing what goes out of our economy, not what goes into it.
Change begins with the election of Dr. Michael Pryce, Republican, from Ohio!
