Taxes & Spending
Spending
Unfortunately, these two issues are tied to each other. Due to irresponsible legislative spending of our government, every citizen born today has inherited a personal debt of $355,000.
Republicans in the past have lowered SOME taxes, but did nothing to control unsustainable spending. Because we have to eventually pay the bill, their practices have effectively become a delayed tax increase.
Democrats WANT higher spending and higher taxes to achieve their objectives. These plans stifle economic growth and social mobility. The Democrats are on track to outdo our largest deficit spending president in history. The White House’s own office has predicted a $1.47 trillion dollar deficit for this year, the largest deficit in the history of our country.
To control spending, I will introduce a Constitutional Amendment that will clearly state: No bill can be signed into law that has any amendment, earmark, attachment or other alteration that does not have something to do with original intent of the law. This will stop Pelosi's multi-million dollar alcohol treatment center in defense bills and bridges to nowhere in Alaska; all paid for in part with Ohio money. When this bill is introduced you will see who is serious about cutting back spending and who is feeding lip service to their constituents on the campaign trail.
Part II of the Constitutional Amendment should state clearly any spending bill, unless under extenuating circumstances, must involve at least 3 states. The effects on spending will be instantaneous. At the very least, 47 other states will have to be convinced that this bill is a worthy enough cause for money from their states to be spent on states other than theirs; and they'll have to explain their reasoning to their constituents back home.
Taxation
I am firmly in favor of a consumption tax that would eliminate the progressive income tax and all other forms of federal taxation on the citizens of the United States. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has become a fire-breathing monster that threatens to destroy this country. The income tax laws are so confusing and overwritten over the years that they contain more than 7 times as many pages as the Bible and there are an accompanying 2.5 million pages of regulations. After the recent health care debacle of a bill over 2,500 pages and how confusing it is, how can anyone enforce a law when so many regulations are in conflict? This is the government way!
It is high time for a change! I will fight to end the tyranny of taxes in this country and replace it with a simple and fair tax rate for all Americans. It will produce the same amount of revenue and will encourage real growth, reduce political corruption, eliminate ALL corporate lobbying activities in government, and create a better atmosphere for business and employment in America. Once a simple tax structure is initiated, we will see foreign business and companies that exited our country fly into America. Jobs will be available once again because we will have places for the unemployed to go to work. Alan Greenspan predicted 11 trillion dollars in American revenue would return overnight to our country. There simply is no valid reason not to do this!
