Constituent Expectations

The question I am asked on the campaign trail more than any other is what sets me apart from the other candidates.  The people have to ask themselves just what do they want from a U.S. Senator.  Do you want another 6 years of Sherrod  Brown, who for 5 years we have heard basically nothing about?  Now that it is time to run for office, he has a flurry of activity, most of which is not directed towards solving the problems of the country, but more like a Dennis Kucinich splash on the media to try to get people to remember his name.  The fact of the matter is that he has participated in some very destructive legislation that has put our country in a very precarious position.  With that in mind, would you like to elect a Senator who will make regular visits to Ohio to hear you out? Is that not what representative government is about?  What being a good representative to government for you is not about is your Senator hiding out in Washington for 5 years and then trying to make it look like he is the busiest Senator on the planet in the year preceeding the election.  Once in office, I plan to make your expectations of what you think a U. S. Senator should be actually come true for the first time in your lives.

My promise to the people of Ohio is simple and clear.

—  Senate was in session 121 days last year. Where were your Senators? I will be being paid to be a representative of this state and I will be speaking to the public on a regular basis.  I will make every effort to hold at least one town hall meeting per county per year.  Certainly regional meetings can be met easily.  I enjoy talking to people.  I will enjoy meeting with the constituents from my state.  I am a Pilot and every county has a runway.  It should be a very attainable goal to get out and meet with the people of my state and try to bring them closer to their government as the Founding Fathers planned.

-  I am a Republican candidate and I will be a good Republican Senator, however,  I represent the people of Ohio, not the party bosses, not lobbyists, not foreign industry, but the citizens of my home state.

-  Transparency is a popular buzz term that is thrown around in campaigns regularly.  Where is that transparency?  I am not a career politician.  I am term limited already.  I don't have any motives to run other than to correct the problems created in past years. I make every effort to be the most transparent Senator in Washington and make you proud as I fulfill my duties.
